Tourism

and culture

Inspired by the weather, most of the holiday time should be spent relaxing on the terrace or by the pool. However, multiple tempting activities are prevalent at Côte d’Azur. The Town of Mandelieu is situated right next to the mountain range of Esterel providing numerous occasions for walking or bicycling. The countryside north of the coastline includes the City of Perfume Grasse, the Grand Canyon of France in Les Gorges du Verdon, or at wintertime, the challenges of skiing is awaiting by a mere 1½ hours drive.

Mandelieu-la-Napoule has named itself the world’s municipal of mimosa. The mimosa celebration during February is one of the largest event of the Azur-coast during the wintertime – only dwarfed by the carnivale of Nice and the lemon-fiest of Menton. The town is populated by 20.000 inhabitants during the winter, which virtually is doubled at the summer. For those choosing an active lifestyle Mandelieu-la-Napoule offers multiple golf courses; at the local harbour motor- and sailboats are for rent (with or without a pro helmsmand) , and the allegedly best sandy beaches of the Azur coast are lining La Napoule.

6 km to the east, Cannes is offering plenty of occasions for shopping and strolling along the promenade and through narrow and picturesque streets. Furthermore Cannes present a large range of cafés, bars and restaurants. This city has a magnetic attraction to the young, the rich, and the beautiful, and numerous conferences and festivals during the year impact what could otherwise be called the normal life of Cannes. Shopping

and markets

Bakery, drugstore, green grocery, mail office and a smaller supermarket “Casino” are all available in Mandelieu. Every Wednesday morning the local market is situated in front of the supermarket MonoPrix on the parking lot.

Inside the small “Esterel Gallery” just by the motorway exit Monoprix is providing the necessities. On the main street of Mandelieu a butcher, bakeries, cafés, etc. are located. Along the western side of Cannes Airport a central shopping district is hosting larger retail stores such as Decathlon.

On the road towards La Napoule the “Geant de Casino” – a gigantic grocery store is present. This centre is offering plenty of merchandise and food variety for consumption.

From the motorway A8 eastwards at exit 44 towards Antibes, Carrefour is claiming the title of being the largest hypermarket in Europe. To ease the long distances travelled during the working day, their employees are often seen peddling forward on rollerblades.

Further towards Nice on the motorway A8, right before the Nice Airport, exit 49 leads to another indoor shopping mall named CAP 3000.
